Knitting in Paradise

This hat turned out much, much better than the picture shows.  Rushing around getting ready for another trip to North Carolina so didn't take the time to reshoot the bad photos.  I  have one skein left of the Debbie Bliss alpaca silk remaining and thought about doing a second hat and adding the beads.   However, have found a pattern for a baby hat and this yarn would be so soft on the head of a wee one. 

When I return from NC, I need to dedicate a post to my failed winter projects.  I have one more successful project to show, but I really need a model for the picture shoot.

Sweet Baby Cap

This little hat turned out so cute.  I wish I had a model so I could see how it fits a 6 month old.  I found the pattern on Ravelry.  It's the Sweet Baby Cap.  So soft.  The yarn is Baby Blatt, 100% wool.  I would say that I used less than half of the 50 g skein.  Will knit some socks to make a matching set.  I have friends expecting a little boy next month.  It should be a perfect fit for next fall.

Branching Out

This simple lace project was just perfect for a couple of skeins of Debbie Bliss alpaca silk dk.  Branching Out can be found in Knitty.  After blocking the scarf is 5.5" x 68".

Knitting in NC

A few weeks ago I visited my daughter in North Carolina.  While she was at work I had lots of time for knitting, reading, and relaxing.  Socks for a April birthday and socks for a July birthday.  

We've had some snow, ice, rain, and gloom in Michigan for several days and I was so excited when the sun came shining in the bedroom this morning that I didn't even bother to worry about shooting pictures with shadows.

This sock was knit with Austermann Step.  This is the second time I've used this yarn for socks.  What a dream to knit with!
