Little Love Baby Cap
With just one skein of Debbie Bliss alpaca silk dk left in my stash, I found the perfect pattern for a cute little baby cap. Quick knit. Stash buster. So soft. So cute. Perfect for the next baby girl to arrive.

This Noro hat went from good to not so good when I decided to give it a soak to soften it up a bit. The pattern is also available on Ravelry. I used a US #7 needle and knit according to instructions. It turned out a little large but would be a perfect snow-shoveling hat for my large head. After I gave it a soak, it grew and grew and grew. At that point I decided I had two options....either frog it or see what felting would do to it. I chose the later. After felting, I had a good fitting hat but really lost what the hat was originally suppose to be. This hat will go the the "hat and mitten box" at the cabin and will get worn. It's a full coverage hat and will be really warm. It will be just right on those cold winter days.
Edgar from Knitty was a quick, easy knit. It blocked out at 5" x 50". It's just the right length and weight for my 5 year old granddaughter. I used about 1 1/3 skeins of Noro Kureyon. Gave it a good soak to soften it up. Overall, I'm pleased with the finished product.
I knit this same pair of socks back in November of 2007 as a Christmas gift for my mom. When I was in Florida this past winter she told me she shrunk her favorite pair of socks. Guess that will happen with 100% wool! When I returned home, I check my stash and sure enough I had enough yarn for another pair. Boring knitting, but happy mom. I gave them to her for Mother's Day.
This hat turned out much, much better than the picture shows. Rushing around getting ready for another trip to North Carolina so didn't take the time to reshoot the bad photos. I have one skein left of the Debbie Bliss alpaca silk remaining and thought about doing a second hat and adding the beads. However, have found a pattern for a baby hat and this yarn would be so soft on the head of a wee one.
When I return from NC, I need to dedicate a post to my failed winter projects. I have one more successful project to show, but I really need a model for the picture shoot.
This little hat turned out so cute. I wish I had a model so I could see how it fits a 6 month old. I found the pattern on Ravelry. It's the Sweet Baby Cap. So soft. The yarn is Baby Blatt, 100% wool. I would say that I used less than half of the 50 g skein. Will knit some socks to make a matching set. I have friends expecting a little boy next month. It should be a perfect fit for next fall.
This simple lace project was just perfect for a couple of skeins of Debbie Bliss alpaca silk dk. Branching Out can be found in Knitty. After blocking the scarf is 5.5" x 68".
A few weeks ago I visited my daughter in North Carolina. While she was at work I had lots of time for knitting, reading, and relaxing. Socks for a April birthday and socks for a July birthday.
We've had some snow, ice, rain, and gloom in Michigan for several days and I was so excited when the sun came shining in the bedroom this morning that I didn't even bother to worry about shooting pictures with shadows.
This sock was knit with Austermann Step. This is the second time I've used this yarn for socks. What a dream to knit with!
This sock was knit with Regia.
I have found the London Beanie to be a good pattern for some left over skeins. When you have a cabin in the woods in Paradise, MI where the snow always falls from the sky and the air is crisp from October to April, you can never have too many hats. Here's that latest two to be added to the "hat, mitten, scarf" box.
